Data Deletion
How to have your account and content erased, what happens in what order, and the one category we are not allowed to delete.

1. How to ask
Email contact@tapawish.com from the address on your account, saying what you want deleted: a single Wish, or the whole account. We confirm within two business days.
If you were sent a TapAWish and want your name and address removed, write to the same address — you do not need an account, and we do not need you to make one. Send the link printed on the card, or, if you have no card, your name and full postal address, so we can find it. We never ask for identity documents. We reply within 10 business days and finish within 30; a card not yet posted is not sent, and one already posted is never sent again. For the sender's privacy and yours, our reply does not say whether we held anything or who sent it.
2. What happens, and in what order
- Immediately — links are revoked. The Wish stops opening from its card, its QR code and any shared link, permanently.
- Within 7 days — the account and its content are hidden and taken out of use. This pause is deliberate: it is the window in which a mistaken or malicious request can still be undone.
- Within 30 days — photographs, drafts, published copies, the addresses on your orders, the messages you sent us and the account itself are erased from live systems. If an order is still being made or posted, we finish it first — or refund it, if you would rather — and erase everything once it is.
- Within 90 days — the last encrypted backups containing them age out. We do not reach into a backup to erase one record, because rewriting backups is how backups stop working.
3. What we cannot delete
Order and tax records. What was bought, when, for how much, and the tax charged. Federal and Florida law require us to keep them, and a deletion request does not override that. They are kept apart from your Wishes and photographs, and they do not contain your images.
We also keep security audit entries, which record that an action happened rather than its contents, and never hold an IP address in a readable form.
4. Things we cannot reach
A printed card in someone's hands is theirs, and a keepsake already posted cannot be recalled. Deleting the Wish stops the card opening anything, but the physical object remains. Anyone who saved or screenshotted a Wish while it was live keeps their copy.
5. Deleting one Wish
You do not need us for this. Revoke its link from the Wish's share screen and it stops working immediately and permanently. Write to us if you also want the photographs erased rather than merely unreachable.
6. A copy of your data
Ask at the same address and we will send what we hold about you. See the Privacy Policy for what that includes.
