Content and Licensing

Your photographs stay yours. This says precisely what we may do with them, and commits us to nothing more.

Last updated 26 September 2026 · Robots Drinking Tea LLC, trading as TapAWish

1. You own what you upload

Every photograph, word and recording you put into a Wish remains yours. We claim no ownership of it, now or later.

2. The permission you give us

So that we can actually make and deliver your order, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to do the following and only the following:

  • Store your content and back it up.
  • Process it technically — resize it, convert it, and strip location metadata out of it.
  • Encode films and voice recordings through our video provider, so they play on any device.
  • Send custom wax-seal artwork to the maker who cuts the stamp.
  • Display it to you, and to anyone holding the link or keepsake you chose to share.
  • Print it, where the product you bought is printed.
  • Keep an unalterable copy of a published Wish, so the version you sent cannot change under the person who received it.

The licence lasts as long as we host your content, and ends when it is deleted — except for the printed article already in someone's hands, and any copy we must keep by law.

3. What we will not do

We do not use your content to advertise TapAWish. Not on the website, not in a template gallery, not in a social post — unless you give us separate written permission for a specific use. We do not sell it, license it to anyone else, or use it to train machine-learning models.

4. What you promise us

  • You own the content, or have permission to use it this way.
  • People who are identifiable in it have agreed to appear, and anyone who can be heard in a recording or film agreed to be recorded.
  • It does not break the Acceptable Use policy.

Photographs taken by a professional photographer usually belong to the photographer, not to the person in them. Check your contract before uploading a wedding or portrait photograph.

5. Published Wishes are fixed

Publishing takes a snapshot. Editing your draft afterwards changes nothing for the person holding the card until you publish again — that is deliberate, so a gift does not change after it is given. Revoking a link stops access permanently and cannot be undone.

6. What belongs to us

The TapAWish name, the site, the template designs, the standard wax seal designs and the software are ours. Buying a product does not transfer them. A custom wax stamp cut to your own artwork is a different matter: the artwork stays yours.
